Ray Vaughn-Mississippi Music Artist

Author and music artist, Ray Vaughn, is the founder of  Mississippi Music Artists.Com , a record producer and videographer. He is also a member of the 60s Rock and Roll band,  Rick And The Continentals, from Meridian, Ms. Ray began music with classical piano when he was 8 years old, later joining The Continentals Band as rhythm guitar player and later becoming the group's bass guitarist. The group eventually became
 Rick's Continentals Band  from Meridian, MS. after Rick Spence (formerly with the Lovin Spoonful)  joined the group in 1965).

The band enjoyed regional successes with their hit recording "You Can Live It Up" backed by "Cold Lonely Winter" recorded at RAP Records Studio in 1966.  Rick And The Continentals would go on to recording an album and also a 2nd round of singles that include: "I Dont' Know" {featuring Paul Davis on Keyboard and George Soule on drums} and "Who Are My Friends" {also included Paul Davis on keyboard and George Soule on drums}.

As an artists from Mississippi, (The Birthplace Of America's Music),  Ray's work for the past twelve years has been focused on the re-discovery of lost or forgotten music by Mississippi artists and the recovery and preservation of these recordings for new generations to enjoy and the for the promotion of music created by Mississippi's own sons and daughters for inclusion into Mississippi's music heritage.

 By 1967, Rick And The Continentals recordings  were playing on more than 300 radio stations between New Orleans, LA. and New York, N.Y.   Ray has recorded with many popular and prominate artists like Paul Davis (Cool Night, '65 Love Affair, I Go Crazy) and George Soule.  Ray and the band, Rick And The Continentals, toured and performed with notable artists like Jimmy Elledge, another Mississippi artist signed by Chet Adkins whose greatest hits include "Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away" {written by Willie Nelson} and "She's Only Seventeen". Other members of Rick's Continentals Band include;  Rick Spence, Stan Suire, Bob Minnis,  Darryl Ross,  Al Mayo and Ray Hair.  In 2007, Ray returned to his music roots  re-discovering all of the songs and recordings that he was a part of in the '60s and in 2010 Ray founded "Mississippi Music Artists.Com", an organization dedicated to the rediscovery of music by Mississippi's music artists and for the recognition of their accomplishments and contributions to Mississippi's music heritage. This organization is dedicated to the preservation of their work for a new generation of fans to discover.

Ray Vaughn began a new album titled "Heart Song" in 2019.   Below are some sample tracks from the album. The allbum will include a number of cover recordings by by Ray on lead vocals and self-harmonic generation.  Most of the song tracks are final mastered by Nick Barosso, who also accompanies on various instruments, arranging and producing the recordings on the Heart Song Album. The album preview has received an unusual level of interest and support from his music followers in Brazil.





In the '60s Ray was a member of The Continentals Band from Meridian, MS. They were highlighted in The Oxford American Annual Music Magazine Edition in 2012 and the band's  photo was the header picture on the contents page listing all the artists in the annual music edition featuring Mississippi music artists. Ray has also produced or co-produced several music album projects by Mississippi artists and other songwriter artists including "The Lost Tracks Album" by Paul Davis, the Shannon Battle Music "Promises Album" project with Frank Morris and he recently co-produced "The Very Best of Paul Davis ", a cooperative album project with Varese/Sarabande Records  of Beverly Hills, CA.   The "Mississippi Blues Project Album-Volume One and Two" are his most recent music albums.
